3.5.3. Pistons and rods


Piston fingers fasten from both parties lock rings. In need of replacement of details remove only pistons from rods.


1. Pistons can act in film after removal of lock rings. Place the piston in hot water and beat out a finger, having put the piston on the reliable lining, a corresponding core. One behind another remove rings.
2. At use of other tool do not break a ring.


1. Carefully clear and check up all details. At detection of damages or deterioration of their details it is necessary to replace.

2. Measure backlashes in проточках pistons. For backlash check it is required, that rings densely sat in проточках. For check, using drawing, put a flat lath to the piston to press rings in проточки, and then under a corner insert щупы to measure a backlash. Before carrying out of measurements проточки it is necessary to clean carefully.
If backlashes on height of piston rings are out of limits of admissions, replace piston rings. At worst it is necessary to replace pistons. There are piston rings, and also pistons of the raised sizes.
3. Measure butt backlashes of separate piston rings in apertures of cylinders. For this ring by turns insert into apertures and push in an aperture the turned piston before their installation in the bottom part of an aperture. Measure a butt backlash, inserting щупы from the bottom party картера the engine.
4. At the results differing from values, the adjustments resulted in tables and the sizes, it is necessary to replace piston rings.
5. Check up deterioration of piston fingers and their apertures. The piston finger should move in an aperture in the piston with a tightness, at moving by its finger after good greasing. As the finger should move in a plug aperture on the diesel engine. Thus the piston and a finger should have a room temperature. In a rod the finger sits on hard planting which thus cannot be checked up.
6. On the piston bottom there is an arrow specifying in a direction of movement of the car. Observance of adjusting position is very important, as the piston finger is inserted into the piston with displacement. On pistons with the raised sizes the size of the piston is underlined its bottom (for example, "25", "50" etc.). Letters and figures on the piston bottom specify in engine type. The piston is marked by letters "HARDWARE".
7. Check up absence of visible damages of rods. The damaged rods necessarily replace. Before repeated installation it is necessary to check up a warp or a bend of rods on a workbench, especially, when pistons act in film. The warped or bent rods necessarily replace.
