Magnetic deviation

The corner of a magnetic deviation is distinguished in various places of a planet, but its approximate card is shown in drawing.

In some areas the compass instructions on the north (the magnetic north) will differ from a direction on the north on a card.

It occurs owing to an inclination of an axis of rotation of the Earth. This deviation is called as a magnetic deviation, and the deviation on 20 ° on the West and on 20 ° on the east can be adjusted with step in 5 °.

Example

If the magnetic deviation of a direction on the north, shown by a compass (on the magnetic north), from a direction on the north on a card makes 5 ° to the West.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

	1. Press the button of adjustment of a compass (1) and on the button of adjustment of a magnetic deviation (2) simultaneously on 1–2 with, there will be the north index (W–N–E), a scale and a point specifying a direction (3). Now scale graduation has changed with 22,5 to 5 ° on division.
	2. Each time by pressing the button of adjustment of a magnetic deviation the index moves clockwise on one division of a scale. If long to keep the button of adjustment of a magnetic deviation, the point-index will start to move automatically. Release the button, and the point will stop.
	3. Press the button of adjustment of a compass on 1–2 with, and the point-index will start to blink. When the point will cease to blink and it is necessary to burn, adjustment will be finished.
