1.22. System of antiblocking of brakes
THE GENERAL DATA

The system of antiblocking of brakes prevents blocking of wheels at braking, helping to keep controllability the car and to reduce a brake way.

If on the car the system of antiblocking of brakes in case you will turn a steering wheel at sharp braking is established, it will have the same effect as though you have turned a steering wheel without pressing a brake pedal. Therefore, be accurate at steering wheel rotation.

Though the brake way of the car with system ABS is usually shorter than a brake way of the car without system ABS, its size very strongly depends on road conditions and from many other things factors. Therefore, observe the same distance with ahead going car as though at you on the car system ABS has not been established.

Also, as a brake way on гравийной or slippery road at the car with АБС more than at the car without АБС, on such roads it is necessary to move with the lowered speed.

At movement on slippery road, press a brake pedal gradually and do not release it sharply.

Do not try to release a brake pedal to prevent blocking of wheels, on the car with system ABS.

After movement on ice-covered or snow-covered road clean off snow and ice which could gather round wheels. Be thus accurate and do not damage gauges of speed of rotation of wheels and their connecting wires. Gauges are established on each of wheels of the car with system ABS.

If the alarm lamp of system ABS lights up after start of the engine or at a driving, it means, that in system ABS there is a malfunction, and that only the usual brake system now functions. In this case, address to experts for system ABS check.

At system ABS work small vibration of a body of the car, a steering wheel and a brake pedal can be felt. It is normal and does not testify to malfunction occurrence.

After start of the engine and when speed of movement of the car will reach 8 km/h in an impellent compartment noise of the working motor and a howling sound can be audible. These sounds are made by system ABS at self-testing carrying out, and they do not testify to malfunction occurrence.

The prevention

That system ABS functioned correctly, it is necessary to observe the following.

Do not establish on the car with АБС differential with the raised internal friction.

Establish on all wheels of the tyre of the identical size and mark.
